MarkItDown is a lightweight Python utility for converting various files to Markdown for use with LLMs and related text analysis pipelines. To this end, it is most comparable to textract, but with a focus on preserving important document structure and content as Markdown (including: headings, lists, tables, links, etc.) While the output is often reasonably presentable and human-friendly, it is meant to be consumed by text analysis tools -- and may not be the best option for high-fidelity document conversions for human consumption.

Claude’s constitution is a detailed description of Anthropic’s intentions for Claude’s values and behavior. It plays a crucial role in our training process, and its content directly shapes Claude’s behavior. It’s also the final authority on our vision for Claude, and our aim is for all of our other guidance and training to be consistent with it.

Data Liberation Your data, your move

What is Data Liberation?
The Data Liberation project envisions a web where your data is truly yours, not locked in closed platforms. Through five development phases, WordPress will give you powerful tools to reclaim, manage, and move your content anywhere on the web—no hosting accounts needed.

Locked vs. Liberated Data
Many people don’t realize what they are getting into when joining a website or web service. At first, it might be easy to get up and running. But from that point on, if you are in a non-open system, your data is locked inside the system, and it’s hard to get out. Read more.
Your phone is about to stop being yours.

Starting September 2026, a silent update, nonconsensually pushed by Google, will block every Android app whose developer hasn't registered with Google, signed their contract, paid up, and handed over government ID.

Every app and every device, worldwide, with no opt-out.

What Google is doing
In August 2025, Google announced a new requirement: starting September 2026, every Android app developer must register centrally with Google before their software can be installed on any device. Not just Play Store apps: all apps. This includes apps shared between friends, distributed through F-Droid, built by hobbyists for personal use. Independent developers, church and community groups, and hobbyists alike will all be frozen out of being able to develop and distribute their software.

Registration requires:

💰 Paying a fee to Google
📝 Agreeing to Google's Terms and Conditions
🪪 Surrendering your government-issued identification
🫆 Providing evidence of your private signing key
🧾 Listing all current and all future application identifiers

If a developer does not comply, their apps get silently blocked on every Android device worldwide.

Developer verification will be enforced on certified devices with Google Play Services installed, which is the majority of Android devices. There are options to bypass the restriction:

——— Use a free, uncensored Android system like /e/os, LineageOS, or GrapheneOS that does not preinstall Google Play Services.
——— "Degoogle" by removing Google Play Services. If it is a system app, you can uninstall it using ADB.
——— Install apps via ADB. Google has already confirmed that ADB will continue to work in the future. You can either use ADB from a PC as described below or use a wireless ADB based installer like anyapk.

The future is low-tech: lessons from the early 2000s ft. Jésabel DC | #Config2026

Lessons
1. Embed Clarity
2. Providde Orientation
3. Activate Reality
4. Serve our users

We’ll rewind to the early 2000s—when tech was low-tech, playful and non-extractive. Think: loading bars, Tamagotchis and RollerCoaster Tycoon in a cereal box. This talk explores calm, #nervous-system-friendly #design: #attention #regulation, slowness as a feature, autonomy-first mechanics, real-world interaction and gentle feedback loops. A call for designers and builders to make tech feel human again.
